Primary Health Care : Antenatal and postnatal care, Immunization for pregnant mothers and children, general treatment, Care for delivery, growth monitoring of infants and children, home visitation, health care education and family planning
HIV/AIDS : PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission Program) - counseling and testing for HIV for pregnant mothers and partners, counseling on infant feeding, safer sex), prophylaxis for PMTCT, treatment for OIs (Opportunistic Infections), care & support for HIV infected and affected, Provision of ART (Antiretroviral treatment), preventive treatment for Malaria, care for infants, condom promotion and distribution, awareness and prevention programs for the community
Performance scale-up in 06-07
PMTCT program started in the month of April 2006. This is a pilot project first of its kind in Nigeria where HIV/AIDS component has been integrated in to Primary Health Care. The uniqueness of the program is that it is rural based.

The beneficiary population consists of mostly farming community, daily wage laborers and petty traders.
 
 
 
         
     
 
 
PMTCT Program in Adana
  • HIV/AIDS program has been integrated in to Primary Health Care program.
  • The PMTCT program is functional is 9 Health Posts and so far more than 350 pregnant mothers and partners have been counseled and tested for HIV.
  • Eight HIV positive clients have been identified. Out of the eight clients, four clients are accessing free antiretroviral treatment.
  • Entered in to partnership of APIN (AIDS Prevention Initiative, Nigeria). This is a Federal Government of Nigeria Program through USAID.
 
 
 
         
     
 
 
Plans for 2007-08
  • Setting up of 4 Health Posts for PMTCT program at Agberiere, Patara, Asipi Fordagi and Ejemu.
  • Expansion of HIV/AIDS program - Enhancing Care & Support of infected and affected and setting up TCF’s own laboratory for diagnosis and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
