Nigeria, though blessed with abundant resources, has a large number of people who are deprived of minimum social services. All government efforts to remedy the situation are rendered inadequate by the ever increasing population.

A child under the age of five dies every minute. Immunization coverage for infants and children is meager. Maternal mortality is one of the highest in the world. Good healthcare facilities are few. 70 to 80% of child deaths are due to malaria, diarrhea and respiratory infections combined with inadequate nourishment.
Nigeria ranks 158 among 175 countries on the HDR Index.

Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF) was registered in 1992 and is working towards helping alleviate poverty in Nigeria.TCF believes self help and partnership are vital to poverty reduction, with the private sector playing a pivotal role.TCF's central philosophy of Caring Capitalism is rooted in the passionate belief that the human face of capitalism is a potent force for universal good. Caring capitalism is the coming together of the entrepreneur with the professionals, the government and the community to work for the betterment of the society.

TCF interventions span 3 critical areas – restoring sight, providing access to primary health care and providing safe drinking water. These are all critical change agents – they give people a sense of self-control over their lives.
